EARLY LIFE

Hector Carlos Lora was born on November 26, 1977, in the city of Passaic. His parents were Dominican immigrant Alejandro and Maritza Lora. He grew up in Passaic as the brother of five siblings: Manuel, Henry, Alex, Angela, and Rita Lora. He attended and graduated from the Passaic Public Schools system and continued to live in Passaic for the rest of his early life. He was very active in his community and joined a variety of clubs, such as the Boys & Girls Club of the city of Passaic.

FROM THE MAYOR

“As a child, I was optimistic; idealistic. I often dreamed about great things that could happen, not just in the city but just in general. I believed that if you worked hard, you could succeed so I often found myself working at jobs that depended on how hard you worked.”

—  Hector Carlos Lora, Mayor of the City of Passaic
